Make an AI music video for your whole song

Describe what your song is about, or paste the lyrics. VidGen Studio stages it as a storyboard of 3D scenes, you time each scene to a section of the song, and an AI video model films it. Then you put your recording under it in any video editor.

Who it is for

Musicians and bands who want a video for a song they made, without a film crew or a 3D artist. It suits songs that tell a story or paint a world: a drive through a city at night, a journey through the seasons, a character the song is about.

It films original 3D characters and sets, not you: it is a story video, not a performance video.

How to make it, step by step

  1. Describe the song's story, or paste the lyrics, in the story box and create the storyboard. A new story starts with up to 10 scenes.
  2. Add scenes until the storyboard covers the whole song. A story can have up to 24 scenes of up to 12 seconds each, so up to 4:48. A 4:25 song fits in 23 scenes.
  3. Set each scene's length, in whole seconds, to the part of the song it goes with: intro, verse, chorus, bridge. The storyboard shows the total length as you go. Re-direct any scene in plain words. All of this is free.
  4. Click Approve & generate and pick a video model that films each scene at the length you set, such as Kling 3.0 Pro (3 to 12 seconds) or Hailuo H3 (5 seconds or more). Some models only make fixed lengths, for example Veo 3.1 makes 4, 6 or 8 second clips, and those would drift away from the song.
  5. Under Finishing, switch off the storybook narrator, the captions, the title and end cards and the soft music bed, and switch off Generate sound & dialogue where the model has it. Without title cards, the first scene starts at 0:00.
  6. Check the price, generate, and download the MP4. Put your recording under it in any video editor and mute the film's own sound, which still has a quiet ambient bed.

What it costs

Building and editing the storyboard is free, and so is a 3D animatic of the whole song with the narrator off. Filming with AI costs the provider's price plus 20%, and the app shows the price before you generate.

Some examples, from the same price calculation the app charges by, at 1080p with styled frames (Nano Banana 2.1) and the settings above:

Example prices for one music video, by song length
Song lengthHailuo H3Kling 3.0 ProScenes
2:30$24.40$26.2013 scenes of 11 to 12 s
3:30$34.14$36.6618 scenes of 11 to 12 s
4:25$43.10$46.2823 scenes of 11 to 12 s

When you have credit, Claude writes and directs the storyboard, which adds about $0.30 for a typical story; without credit, the free built-in planner is used. Shots that fail are not charged, and when you change one scene later, only that shot is filmed again.

What it cannot do yet

Who owns the video

Your song, lyrics and story stay yours. The video you make is yours too, and you may use it commercially, for example on a monetized YouTube channel, without crediting VidGen. If the song or lyrics are someone else's, you need their permission.

One limit to know: in some countries, the US among them, imagery generated mostly by AI gets little or no copyright protection, so the pictures may not be exclusive to you. Your music, lyrics and editing are protected as usual. When you publish, follow the platform's rules: YouTube, for example, asks you to label realistic AI-generated footage.

Questions

Can VidGen use my recording?

Not yet. You cannot upload audio, so there is no beat sync. Time each scene to the song's sections, download the MP4 and add your track in any video editor.

How long can the video be?

Up to 24 scenes of up to 12 seconds each, so up to 4 minutes 48 seconds. A 4:25 song fits in 23 scenes.

What does a full-length music video cost?

For example, a 4:25 song in 23 scenes comes to $43.10 with Hailuo H3 or $46.28 with Kling 3.0 Pro at 1080p, from the same calculation the app uses. The exact price is shown before you generate, and the 3D animatic is free.

Who owns the music video?

You do, and you can use it commercially. The terms explain it, including the limits of copyright in AI-generated imagery.

Can I try it before paying?

Yes. Creating the storyboard with the built-in planner, editing it and rendering the 3D animatic are free. You pay only when you film with an AI model.

Your video starts with what the song is about.

The storyboard and the 3D animatic are free. You pay only for the AI shots you approve, at the price shown first.
